Guiding Principles and Approaches

Developments in research and neuropsychology have expanded to support the individual holistically by addressing body, mind and spirit. Psychotherapy with a caring professional has been shown to increase brain functioning by growing new neurons. Respecting the individuals self determination, their intent to change, allows me to draw on my experience and training in several different modalities.

Treatment is a collaborative effort agreed upon by my clients and myself. Together we develop a psychosocial assessment including a plan with goals and objectives. This collaborative effort creates opportunity for meaningful change to occur during our time together and beyond the therapy.

A variety of treatment modalities allows psychotherapy to be tailored to meet people where they are at this time in their life. Developmental, emotional and psychological capacities are created anew and strengthened by the therapeutic experience.

I use a variety of analytical perspectives each of which offers a particular basis for developing a rapport with individual clients. This therapeutic relationship between myself and my client fosters a deep understanding and awareness that affects change. When one is reflective and connected to their internal world of thoughts and feelings healing occurs naturally.

It is by being intentionally present and attuned to my clients that they sense a level of connection that may be quite different than their histories and their current experiences. It is this contact that helps people see themselves clearly and motivation for change takes hold.
