Beliefs
Recent developments in Attachment Theory and the current research on neuropsychology expand our insights to support the individual in a holistic way through body, mind and spirit. Respecting the individual as a whole allows me to customize my approach, drawing on my experience and training in several different modalities.
Treatment is a collaborative effort agreed upon by my clients and myself. Together we develop a psychosocial assessment including a plan with goals and objectives. This collaborative effort creates opportunity for meaningful change to occur during our time together and beyond the therapy.
A variety of treatment modalities allows psychotherapy to be tailored to meet people where they are at this time in their life. Developmental, emotional and psychological capacities are created anew and strengthened by the therapeutic experience. I utilize a variety of analytical perspectives each of which offers a particular basis for developing a rapport with individual clients. This relationship fosters a deep understanding as to how we bring past and present into our lives.
Alternatively, I work with Systems theory, which can assist couples and families in understanding how each person affects the whole and how the collective acts upon the individual. I also utilize hypnosis, which allows people to relax in a deep way. This opens possibilities from the unconscious into the conscious mind where the new discoveries allow change to occur.
